Amplified Online is a platform for students to find qualified music tutors who provide online 1-to-1 lessons.
Tutors on our platform are professional musicians and experienced music teachers from around the UK. They are interviewed and assessed by us in order to provide the best learning experience for students.
We require every tutor on our platform to play their instrument to a grade 8 level (grade 8 is the highest level of music exam).
While we do not require a DBS for tutors to join our platform, we take every reasonable step to make Amplified Online as safe as possible. Every tutor on our platform has been referred by a tutor we already work with.
Taking lessons online
Tutors on Amplified Online provide one to one lessons online using video conferencing software called Zoom. Don’t worry, it’s super simple. When you begin a weekly lesson subscription, you’ll be provided with a link to join your tutor’s video meeting. Simply follow this link at your allotted lesson time.
Yes, tablets work great, and phones are perfectly capable, although their screens can be a little on the small side. If you want to see your tutor clearly, we recommend using a tablet or a laptop/PC.
You simply need a laptop, PC, or tablet, and an internet connection. If you’re taking instrument lessons, you’ll need that too!
Zoom is the video conferencing software tutors on our platform use to provide high quality 1-to-1 lessons online.
Visit https://zoom.us/signup to sign up for a Zoom account. You’ll then be prompted to download the software, ready for your lesson.
Booking & scheduling lessons
Tutors our platform provide a 7 day free trial for new students. This begins when you start a weekly lesson subscription. You won’t pay anything until your second week of lessons, so if you change your mind before then, simply cancel your subscription and no payments will be taken.
Visit the tutors page to find a suitable tutor. Click on their name to visit their profile. From here, you’ll be able to select your lesson length, time and date. Once you’ve done this, click ‘add to booking basket’ and following the booking process.
Visit your tutor’s profile page and contact them via the ‘Tutor enquiry’ area to let them know you need to cancel or reschedule an upcoming lesson(s).
If you want to reschedule your recurring time slot, please cancel your subscription and re-book your lessons at the new time via your tutor’s profile page (the same way you did when you signed up).
No, tutors on our platform provide weekly lessons only. Our mission is to match great teachers with students who want to learn learn, progress, and get results from their lessons, and we believe consistency is key to delivering this.
Billing & payment
Lessons are paid for by debit or credit card.
Tutors on our platform provide weekly lesson subscriptions. After your 7 day free trial period has ended, you will be charged the lesson fee shown on your tutor’s profile on a weekly basis until you cancel your subscription.
If you’re unable to attend a lesson, you can reschedule or request a refund if at least 24 hours’ notice is provided.
You can cancel your subscription by visiting the My Account page and selecting ‘Subscriptions’ from the navigation menu.
Tutors are able to provide refunds for lessons cancelled more than 24 hours’ in advance.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for tutors to provide refunds for no-shows and same-day cancellations except in very exceptional circumstances. Refunds of this kind are provided solely at the tutor’s discretion.
Visit the tutors page to select your chosen tutor. From their profile page, scroll down and look for the ‘Tutor enquiry’ area. Any messages sent from here will go directly to the tutor.
We do not provide tutors’ personal contact details to students for safeguarding reasons. If your tutor wishes you provide you with their contact details directly, they can do so at their own discretion.
Visit the My Account page and select ‘Payment methods’ from the navigation menu. You’ll be able to update your payment method here.

Visit the My Account page and select ‘Bookings’ from the navigation menu. Click ‘view’ to see your scheduled lesson time. You can reschedule your lessons here.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you’d like to close your account and we will delete your details from our platform.
Occasionally, your tutor’s previous lesson will overrun, and this could lead to them being a few minutes late for your lesson. In these circumstances your tutor is still expected to provide you with your full lesson duration.
If your tutor doesn’t begin your lesson within 10 minutes of your scheduled lesson time, please contact them by visiting their profile page.
Please contact your tutor via their profile page and let them know they missed your lesson. Your tutor should provide you with a reasonable excuse for missing your lesson and attempt to reschedule. If you or your tutor are unable to reschedule, you can request a refund for your missed lesson by visiting the My Accounts page.
If you’re experiencing connection issues at or near the beginning of your lesson, your tutor may be able to reschedule to a later date. However, we advise it may not be possible to reschedule a lesson once more than 1/3rd of the lesson has been provided.
If you’ve messaged your tutor and haven’t received a reply to your query within 72 hours, please email email@example.com with your tutor’s name and reason you’re trying to contact your tutor.
